Federal Trade Commission Appoints Roslyn A. Mazer as Agency’s Inspector General

Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Edith Ramirez has appointed Roslyn A. Mazer as the agency’s Inspector General, succeeding Scott Wilson, who retired.

“I am pleased to welcome Roslyn to the Federal Trade Commission,” said FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez. “Her extensive experience will help to ensure that we continue to operate effectively in our important work on behalf of American consumers.”

Mazer joins the agency from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, where she served as the Inspector General, as Special Assistant to the Director of National Intelligence, and as Senior Advisor for Public-Private Information Sharing in the Office of the Program Manager for the Information Sharing Environment. She previously served for seven years as Special Investigative Counsel in the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General and, earlier, in the Criminal Division as Special Counsel for Intellectual Property. While at the Department of Justice, she also served as a Presidential Appointee, and the Attorney General’s Representative, as chair of the Interagency Security Classification Appeals Panel. Mazer also served as Associate Deputy Attorney General and as Deputy Assistant Attorney General. Earlier, she was a partner with Dickstein Shapiro LLP, specializing in media law and criminal defense.

Mazer is a graduate of the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America, where she earned her Juris Doctor degree, and Syracuse University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in political science.
