The Federal Trade Commission’s online Complaint Assistant is now easier to use for consumers who want to file a complaint through their mobile device.
When consumers visit the Complaint Assistant from their mobile device, they’ll be presented with a format that is simpler to navigate on a smaller screen and without a keyboard. The changes will happen automatically, without any action required by the consumer.
The change is part of the Commission’s efforts to ensure that consumers not only are protected when using mobile devices, and have easy access to consumer information, but also can inform the FTC of complaints.
Consumers who are reporting an incident of identity theft still will be directed to the standard version of the Complaint Assistant and encouraged to submit their complaint from a desktop or laptop computer due to the sensitive personal information required to file such a complaint.
The Federal Trade Commission works for consumers to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices and to provide information to help spot, stop, and avoid them. To file a complaint in English or Spanish, visit the FTC’s online Complaint Assistant or call 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357). The FTC enters complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure, online database available to more than 2,000 civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad. The FTC’s website provides free information on a variety of consumer topics. Like the FTC on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and subscribe to press releases for the latest FTC news and resources.
