FTC Announces Agenda for Oct. 29 Workshop on Consumer Participation in Class Action Cases

The Federal Trade Commission has announced an agenda for its Oct. 29 half-day public workshop in Washington, DC on improving class action settlement notices for consumers.   

Workshop panels include experts who will address the current challenges in reaching consumers, research on consumer class actions, and opportunities for increasing consumer recovery rates.

First announced on Sept. 6, 2019, the workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Constitution Center, 400 7th St., SW, Washington, DC, and will be webcast live. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

The FTC welcomes written comments, including further evidence of consumer perception. Interested parties may submit public comments electronically at Regulations.gov, or in paper form on these topics or other related topics through November 22, 2019. Paper comments may be mailed to Federal Trade Commission, Office of the Secretary, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W., Suite CC-5610 (Annex B), Washington, DC 20580, or they may be delivered to Federal Trade Commission, Office of the Secretary, 400 7th Street SW, 5th Floor, Suite 5610 (Annex B), Washington, DC 20024. Please write “Class Action Notices, Project No. P024210” on your comment so that it will be readily identified with this workshop.

The workshop is free and open to the public. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring a valid government-issued photo ID such as a government badge, license, or passport. The security processing will include a metal detector and X-ray screening of all hand-carried items.
