FTC Announces Agenda for Workshop to Examine Competition and Consumer Protection Issues in the Rooftop Solar Business

The Federal Trade Commission has announced the agenda and panelists for its upcoming “Something New Under the Sun” workshop in Washington, DC, on June 21, 2016, examining competition and consumer protection issues raised by consumers’ growing use of rooftop solar panels to generate electric power.

FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez will give opening remarks at the event, which will feature federal and state government officials, academics, representatives of electric utility and solar industry companies, consumer and regulatory associations, and other market participants. Panelists will discuss the current state of the solar power industry; net metering laws and regulations; competition issues in a changing industry; and consumer issues surrounding the solar rooftop industry.

The workshop, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Constitution Center, 400 7th St., SW, Washington, DC. It will be webcast live on the FTC’s website. A full schedule and panelist biographies, along with event details and directions to the Constitution Center, can be found on the event webpage. Advance registration is not required but is strongly encouraged.
