FTC Chairman Joins Education Secretary and FCC Chairman to Introduce Online Safety Booklet for Parents

Federal Trade Commission Chairman Jon Leibowitz, U.S. Secretary of EducationArne Duncan, and Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski will visit Jefferson Middle School in Washington, D.C., Wednesday, Dec. 16 to introduce Net Cetera: Chatting with Kids About Being Online. The booklet is a guide for parents as they teach and help children navigate the Internet. A Spanish-speaking representative will be available for media interviews.

The Federal Trade Commission works for consumers to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices and to provide information to help spot, stop, and avoid them. The FTC enters complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure, online database available to more than 1,700 civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad.
