FTC Joins NAACP and Birmingham Community Partners on Oct. 6 For Local Forum on Consumer Fraud Issues

The Federal Trade Commission will join with the NAACP Alabama State Conference and local community partners for a forum on consumer fraud issues. The forum will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Birmingham City Hall, located at 710 North 20th Street in Birmingham.

Representatives from the FTC, NAACP, the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice, the Alabama Attorney General’s office, the Securities and Exchange Commission, legal services agencies and the Better Business Bureau will take part in the event, which will provide local consumers the chance to ask questions about ongoing fraud issues and how to combat fraud. Consumers will have the opportunity to share their stories of being affected by fraud, and hear from others about ideas on how to address the issues.

The event follows a daytime workshop held by the FTC and Alabama NAACP to train members to share information with their communities about how to fight consumer fraud and educate consumers.

The Federal Trade Commission works to promote competition, and protect and educate consumers.
