FTC Names Agency’s New Inspector General

Federal Trade Commission Chairman Jon Leibowitz today announced that Scott E. Wilson will join the agency from the U.S. Treasury Department’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing on August 13, 2012, and will serve as Inspector General.

“We are pleased to welcome Scott to the FTC. I’m sure that the knowledge and experience he brings will help to ensure that we continue to operate effectively and efficiently to fulfill our mission to protect consumers and foster competition,” Leibowitz said, adding, “The agency is very fortunate to have had the outstanding services of his predecessor, John Seeba, who served as Inspector General since 2008.”

Since 2007, Wilson has been an Associate Director of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, where he received the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Senior Executive Service. He previously served for four years as Deputy Inspector General for the U.S. Postal Service; Chief of Staff, Aviation Operations, in the Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration; and Assistant Inspector General for Audit, U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, where he also received the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Senior Executive Service. Wilson holds a B.B.A. from Georgia State University. He will replace John M. Seeba, who retired from the federal government.
