The Federal Trade Commission and the National Association of State Charities Officials have announced a preliminary agenda for the Give & Take: Consumers, Contributions, and Charity conference. The conference will examine issues related to ensuring that consumers are protected from fraud when they make donations and that they have confidence when making donations.
Discussion topics for law enforcement, researchers, practitioners, charity watchdogs, donor advocates, and members of the nonprofit sector will include:
- Current donor choices and challenges
- Empowering donors to avoid fraud through education
- Emerging and future challenges for donors and law enforcement
- Safeguarding donors from fraud
A final agenda for the conference will be released in the future.
The conference is free and open to the public. It will be held at the Constitution Center, 400 7th St., SW, Washington, DC 20024. The FTC welcomes public comments related to topics addressed by the conference. Such comments may be submitted online. The public comment period will remain open until May 1, 2017.
