ALEXANDRIA, Va. (July 22, 2016) – National Credit Union Administration Executive Director Mark A. Treichel today announced the selection of two new associate regional directors of operations in the agency’s Region II and Region V offices.
A 29-year veteran with the agency, Michael Ryan will begin serving in Region II on July 24. Ryan, who had served as Region II director of supervision, succeeds Wendy Angus, who became Region II associate regional director of programs in May.
Ryan joined NCUA in 1987 as an examiner. During his career, he has served as a loss risk analysis officer and problem case officer.
Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Linda Thompson, who has been with the agency since 1988, will assume her duties in Region V on Aug. 8. Thompson, who had served as the Region V director of special actions, succeeds Cherie Freed, who was named Region V Director in April.
Thompson also began her NCUA career as an examiner. She then served as a problem case officer for 10 years. Thompson subsequently served as a supervisory examiner until her appointment as Region V director of special actions in 2010.
Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Walsh College in Troy, Michigan. She graduated from the NCUA Management Development Program in 2002.
