ALEXANDRIA, Va. (March 3, 2016) – JeanMarie Komyathy, Director of Risk Management in the National Credit Union Administration’s Office of Examination and Insurance, was honored today with the 2015 Hero of the Year Award from the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area.

The award is the Office of Personnel Management’s highest CFC honor.

“JeanMarie did an outstanding job in leading NCUA’s CFC efforts this year,” NCUA Board Chairman Debbie Matz said. “Her hard work and personal dedication to such a worthy cause were obvious during the campaign, and the results prove it. Thanks to JeanMarie’s efforts and the hard work of many others, NCUA employee contributions and participation increased tremendously, resulting in the agency greatly surpassing its goal for the year.”

Komyathy was recognized for her efforts leading NCUA’s 2015 CFC campaign to record-high donations. NCUA employees pledged a total of $101,179, exceeding the agency’s goal by more than 40 percent. As a result, the agency earned multiple honors, including the President’s Award, the Summit Award, the Participation Achievement Award and the eGiving Award.

Presented by the Office of Personnel Management, the annual CFC Hero Awards are given to the campaign’s “unsung heroes” who, through dedication and creativity, demonstrated leadership qualities in their campaigns. Komyathy was one of eight civilian employees honored at the 2015 awards ceremony.

The Combined Federal Campaign is the world’s largest annual workplace charity effort, with almost 200 campaigns throughout the country and overseas, raising millions of dollars each year. Pledges made by federal civilian, military and postal workers during the campaign season, which runs from Sept. 1 through Dec. 15, support eligible non-profit organizations providing health and human-service benefits.
