The Yards Collective today announced an ambitious 24-hour silent auction and arts event to celebrate its 8th birthday October 18th and 19th. The company is also announcing plans to start working toward non-profit status within the next two years.
Starting off the night will be a silent auction from 6-9 pm featuring pieces of art, jewelry, gift baskets, gift cards and other items from a variety of Rochester businesses. The night will also include performances by local musicians, a dance party, a Saturday brunch with coffee provided by Java’s Café and collaborative activities during Saturday Rochester Public Market hours, 10am-2pm.
“As we celebrate our 8th anniversary at The Yards our goal is to raise $8,000,” says Kristina Kaiser, Executive Director at The Yards. “We hope to create more scholarships to our Residency Program and to continue development of a Teen Ambassador program.”
This proceeds from this 24-hour fundraising event will go toward a variety of improvements to the space.
• Developing resources for programming such as improved technology for class facilitators.
• Creating additional areas to install artworks with a picture rail system and moveable walls.
• Scholarships for emerging artists to exhibit and expansion of the residency program.
“In the last year we have had over 20 exhibitions!” says Kaiser. “This would not be possible without your continued support, and we are grateful for our engaged community.” The Yards has also doubled its membership since Kaiser took over as Executive Director.
