The South East Chicago Commission (SECC) will host the inaugural regional economic development symposium focused on strengthening the business districts in Chicago’s Southeast lakefront neighborhoods. Facing major capital investments, commercial corridor redevelopment and significant gentrification within the next three years, the SECC Symposium on Saturday, October 12, 2019 will begin a needed discourse about business development.
The SECC Symposium will convene more than 12 guest speakers to engage the audience of entrepreneurs, business executives, property owners, investors, financial institutions, policy leaders and business development practitioners as a diverse, cross-sector community committed to economic vitality.
The Keynote Conversation features John W. Rogers, Jr., President and CEO of Ariel Investments, and Valerie Jarrett, author and former senior advisor to U.S. President Barack Obama. Rogers and Jarrett will introduce the theme “Fueling Our Economic Evolution” with a focus on capital investments and economic vitality.
The Deep Dive will feature Derrick Collins, Dean of the College of Business, Chicago State University. Collins will reveal essential insights and secrets to growth capital for small businesses and how investors and financial institutions can align with businesses seeking capital.
