Operation Food Search’s Director to Present at Missouri School Nutrition Association Conference

Brian Wieher to discuss the nonprofit’s breakfast service program.

St. Louis, MO, October 11, 2019 –(PR.com)– Brian Wieher, Director of Child & Family Nutrition at Operation Food Search, will be a presenter at the Missouri School Nutrition Association’s annual conference in Branson, MO on Oct. 19. The Missouri SNA is the state chapter of the School Nutrition Association, which is a national nonprofit professional organization that represents more than 57,000 members who provide high quality, low cost meals to students across the country.

Operation Food Search Director of Child & Family Nutrition Brian Wieher, along with Kansas City Public Schools Director of Food and Nutrition Jordan Gordon, will present their “Breakfast After The Bell: Overcoming Barriers.” The presentation will highlight how they transformed a school district’s breakfast service by using a non-traditional approach while remaining in compliance under the School Breakfast Program reimbursement.

Since the fall of 2018, Wieher has collaborated with the Kansas City School District to increase the breakfast participation rates in their elementary, middle and high schools. He will discuss how research points to the educational benefits of school breakfast – ranging from improved math scores and greater concentration to comprehension and better attendance – as well as the health benefits, which includes increased diet quality and nutrient intake.
