The Italian Project WiseTown® Among Emerging Solutions at GITEX Awards 2019 in Dubai

WiseTown® among the top finalists of the very prestigious international competition GITEX Technology Week 2019 in Dubai. Among the members of the jury, Carlo Ratti, an italian architect and engineer, considered by Wired as “one of 50 people who will change the world.”

Perugia, Italy, October 06, 2019 –(PR.com)– TeamDev was ranked as one of the best companies in the Smart City category – Smart Idea Award at the international competition GITEX Awards 2019, launched with the aim of bringing out innovative IT solutions. The award ceremony will take place on Tuesday 8 October 2019, at the World Trade Center in Dubai, during the event GITEX Technology Week 2019, the largest technology fair in the Middle East.

The software house, with the WiseTown® Situation Room Project, is the only Italian company in glee top finalists. “We are very happy with this recognition that accredits the WiseTown® platform among emerging products for the smart city sector and civic technology on an international scale” – declares Andrea Cruciani, CEO of TeamDev and Founder of the WiseTown brand.

In the jury there is also the famous Italian Carlo Ratti, founder and director of the SENSEable City Lab at MIT – Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston. The architect and engineer is a protagonists of the international debate on the influence of new technologies on the future of our cities. In recent years, he was mentioned in numerous magazines that consider him among the most influential people who will change the world.

The project of TeamDev in competition was carried out in collaboration with the city of Independence in Oregon (USA) and realized during the commemoration of July 4th 2018, the biggest American public event that celebrates the history and institutions of the United States. The Pilot, considered very innovative, was financed by FIWARE, the European business accelerator.

WiseTown® is also a partner of the EIT Digital Program, and in that context is implementing the DoNotFear application that deals with participatory security of the citizens in public transport. The project, in collaboration with the TU-Berlin university, offers citizens the opportunity to report places and situations in which they feel uncomfortable or in danger while being in stations or on public transportation. Thus, other citizens and the rescues can support, interact or intervene.

The “WiseTown® – Situation Room” solution allowed the public administration of the city to keep under control every sensitive aspect of the event, with particular reference to communication, traffic and security.

The innovative system manages in real time digital data collected from citizen alerts, IoT sensors, open data, georeferenced social media posts, pre-existing data archives, and urban video surveillance. At the same time, citizens have the opportunity to report issues to the authorities through an app, social networks or access to the Issue Manager web portal, created specifically for this purpose.

“Security is always a concern, and we don’t have enough people locally to manage an event this large. WiseTown® represents an effective way to monitor and support our event operations.” – Shawn Irvine, Economic Development Director, City of Independence
