WASHINGTON – On November 13, Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen hosted the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers’ Meeting in Francisco, California, as part of the United States’ APEC host year. During the Finance Ministers’ Meeting, Secretary Yellen highlighted that APEC members are at the center of the 21st century global economy, and America’s leadership and engagement over the past several years, along with the efforts of our partners in the region, has resulted in important economic progress. The Finance Ministers’ Meeting, which was held ahead of APEC Leaders’ Meeting, served as an opportunity to build on this progress and comprised important discussions about key areas of collective work, including advancing modern supply side economics, promoting sustainable finance, and furthering the responsible development of digital assets.
Secretary Yellen joined her counterparts in issuing a consensus joint ministerial statement. The statement was issued alongside a companion Chair’s Statement.
