MEXICO CITY – Today, Assistant Secretary for Investment Security Paul Rosen traveled to Mexico City, Mexico for meetings with the Government of Mexico as well as business and investment community leaders, and to provide remarks at the International Bar Association Annual Conference.
Assistant Secretary Rosen met with Roberto Lazzeri, Chief of Staff to the Mexican Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, Roberto Ramirez de la O. They discussed key aspects of the U.S.-Mexico economic relationship, including measures to protect both countries’ national security through investment screening. They discussed implementation and progress on the Memorandum of Intent signed by Secretary Yellen and Secretary Ramirez de la O and concrete steps to continue implementation into the new Mexican administration. They committed to prioritizing our shared efforts to safeguard national security through investment screening.
Assistant Secretary Rosen also participated in a roundtable discussion with Mexican business and investment community leaders to hear views on the investment climate in Mexico, discuss how CFIUS screens investments, and discuss cooperation between the U.S. and Mexican Governments on investment screening for the advancement and protection of our shared national security.
