WASHINGTON – Today U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin met with Iraqi Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ali Allawi and Iraqi Ambassador to the United States Fareed Yassen. They discussed the economics track of the U.S.–Iraq Strategic Dialogue, the new government’s priorities for economic reforms and response to COVID-19, and opportunities to work together to advance economic security, stability, and prosperity. Secretary Mnuchin underscored Treasury’s close partnership with Iraq and his support for the implementation of comprehensive economic reforms and efforts to strengthen Iraq’s AML/CFT regime.
