Earlier today, Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen spoke with Italian Minister of Economy and Finance Roberto Gualtieri. Secretary Yellen conveyed her intention to work closely with Italy during its G20 presidency on their shared priorities of supporting a strong global recovery, fighting inequality, and forcefully addressing the threat of climate change. They also discussed the need to find multilateral solutions to many of the issues facing the global economy, including addressing the challenges of efficiently and equitably taxing the income of multinational firms, and debt vulnerabilities and financing risks in low-income countries.
