SAN FRANCISCO – Today, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen met with Mexico’s Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, Rogelio Ramírez de la O, on the margins of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings. Secretary Yellen emphasized that Mexico is an important ally and a close economic partner of the United States in the region, and that the United States looks forward to continuing to strengthen the bilateral relations between our countries. Secretary Yellen also discussed next steps following the recent Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity Leaders Summit and opportunities to deepen cooperation to combat illicit finance threats. The Secretary further discussed the robust U.S.-Mexico partnership during the United States’ host year for APEC, and opportunities for continued collaboration on APEC’s ongoing work on sustainable finance, modern supply side economics, and digital assets.
