WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen met today with members of the Global Business Alliance to discuss the economic recovery, both domestically and across the world.
Secretary Yellen highlighted the rapid economic recovery from the pandemic and the economy’s transition to sustained, steady growth. The Secretary highlighted the resilience of the American economy and the Administration’s legislative accomplishments this past year, particularly the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. She also reiterated that bringing down inflation remains the Administration’s top economic priority.
The participants discussed the global economic environment, supply chain issues, the positive impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act and the current labor market. Secretary Yellen detailed the Administration’s work with G7 and G20 partners to mitigate the effects of Russia’s war on Ukraine. Finally, Secretary Yellen emphasized the Administration’s commitment to maintaining an open investment policy while making efforts to mitigate risks to America’s economic and national security in critical areas.
