WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury hosted its first all-day summit on investing in the economic future of Latino communities. The day-long summit featured remarks by Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo, Counselor for Racial Equity Janis Bowdler, and U.S. Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey, along with panel discussions with senior officials from the Treasury Department, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of Agriculture – as well as leaders across the private, public, and philanthropic sectors – on the current economic state of Latinos in the U.S. and the Biden-Harris Administration’s strategy for equitable pandemic recovery. Participants and panelists included representatives from UnidosUS, National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders, National Caucus of Hispanic State Legislators, American Society of Hispanic Economists, National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals, U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Hispanic Federation, Green Latinos, and others from state houses, universities, nonprofits, corporations, and philanthropies.
